Business Challenges
Using manual inventory tracking procedures across different software and spreadsheets is time-consuming, redundant, and vulnerable to errors. Customer demand is constantly shifting. Keeping too much could result in obsolete inventory you’re unable to sell, while keeping too little could leave you unable to fulfill customer orders. To get rid of these inventory hassles, they wanted to migrate to cloud and set up an analytics environment for the pharmacy leveraging the Azure platform.
In an inventory-heavy business, effective inventory control is important, and perhaps even critical, to ongoing success. Having 400+ brand products, the client was struggling to effectively manage the inventory and streamline the supply chain. Here are the major challenges faced by the retail pharmacy chain.
Solutions
For on-prem Data sources connectivity, Self-Hosted Integration Runtime is set up in an Azure VM. This SHIR VM acted as a connectivity bridge between the on-prem SQL servers and Azure Data Factory.
The structured & unstructured data was pulled into ADLS Gen 2 via Azure Data Factory and further loaded into Azure Synapse SQL DWH (SQL Dedicated Pool). Full Load and incremental data pipelines were built in Azure Data Factory for both transactional and master data tables for each data source.
For Inventory Feed Data Source, CT Team would walk through the Source, to ascertain the connectivity setup and establish a mechanism for bulk load and incremental load data pipelines. Azure Purview was set up for data governance and management over Azure Storage, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse.

Migrating to the Azure cloud has given the client impeccable benefits, including not only the best-suited inventory control management system but also a secure platform that requires the least manual interventions. Rich details and making them easy to analyze through personalized dashboards and Azure services helped the company boost business operations and visualization.
Improved Inventory Refresh Frequency
The frequency of KPI tracking and reporting was brought down from 50 minutes to 3 minutes. The users have real-time access to the KPIs as soon as the data is available in the database.
Warehouse and Supplier Inventory Synchronization
Real-time tracking/monitoring mechanisms of their warehouse inventory and network supplier (pharmacy stores) inventory were synchronized.

By partnering with Celebal Technologies and leveraging the capabilities of Azure Synapse, the client achieved a remarkable 96% improvement in inventory fulfillment and replenishment, resulting in enhanced customer satisfaction and significant cost savings.
